The story of coincidences – or was it meant to be?
In 2006 I was on holidays in Europe and attended an all breeds show in Lodz, Poland. I was completely “wow-ed” by one particular bitch - Paola Penelopa Piligrimas, and remembered her name. I hoped that one day I might be able to have a puppy with her in it’s pedigree, she was stunning, confident, social and simply beautiful!
In 2009 I was in Europe on holidays again, and went to show again. By then, I spoke to few people on-line and we met up at the show. I was able to meet face to face some of my internet friends. One came to the show with a 4 moth old puppy, to socialise. We watched the judging and they asked me which dobermann did I like most. Unfortunately I wasn’t impressed by any in the ring. But the puppy that was not shown was beautiful, and I thought a great show prospect. I joked that I’d like to take her home with me.
After further investigation I’ve learned that it’s a granddaughter of Paola Penelopa Piligimas. Later, I didn’t keep in touch with the owner and didn’t follow the youngsters progress.
In 2011 I thought about importing a dog and started to “look”, contacted a friend in Poland to find out if he knows of any adult bitches for sale. He told me that he knows of few, and one in particular, I might like. When he has send me the name, contact and pedigree I was very surprised to learn that it was the girl I have seen and liked as a puppy, at the shows few years back! (Remijaguare Charmi)
As I was visiting family in 2012 in Poland I have organised to visit the owner/breeder to have a look at her dogs, and at Charmi. Joanna has also talked me into going to a International Dobermann Club (IDC) show in Italy with her, and we travelled together for 5 days talking about dogs :-) and I got to meet many people and many great dogs. (That also resulted in importing frozen semen from Oksamit De Grande Vinko)
For a variety of reasons I decided not to import Charmi, but ordered a puppy out of her. His sire - Boss (Santa Julf Russian Boy) – the successful show dog and proven sire, had the most wonderful temperament one can ask for. And when I looked at his pedigree Paola Penelopa Piligrimas was also in his pedigree!
So 8 years after I couldn’t not take my eyes off one beautiful bitch at a show in Poland, Faramir de Terra Mirabili is joining my household. He carries the genes of one of the most stunning dobermanns I have come across (only my opinion) and hopefully he will pass them on to puppies I might have by him in the future.
